Bangkok Foodie Trip Day 1!

Woo I'm on a blog roll once again!

Dearie is away in KL this entire week for his work orientation trip and since I have no dinner plans, that gives me more time to look through my photos and start putting the entries up!

So here I am reminiscing about my last travel destination in June - BANGKOK!

Speaking of which, the recent explosion in Bangkok was a saddening and tragic event. I certainly hope they will bring the culprits to justice soon!

Anyway, this trip consists of alot of eating (which explains the title of this blog entry lol), minimal shopping, zero sightseeing since we have seen whatever we wanted to see during our first trip to Bkk. We did not take much photos as well because even though the boy bought the camera, he did not slot the memory card in! So that equals to less photos and not so good quality too :x

So this 2nd trip back after 1.5 yrs is really because of the FOOD!

Morning flight at 7am so we were at the airport ard 6am!

Us with our puffy face haha. Pardon my black roots, it's getting quite disturbing but I just wanna grow them out instead of retouching it. Self console that it's ombre lol.

Here we go!~

In flight breakfast was a disappointment because both our scrambled eggs were quite charred, most likely due to overheating :( But the hashbrown and sausage were decent enough to fill us up.

Reached Bkk after 2.5hrs and clearing immigration was such a breeze compared to the first time when we got stuck for close to an hour or 2. After getting our traveller sim card with AIS, we took the airport rail link to the city.

It was the MERS season then so we were quite worried and mostly on high alert and avoid whoever that were sick or coughing. Masks checked, wet tissues and hand sanitizers no less too.

Dearie and his cracked phone casing lol.

Most BTS stations do not have lifts so it is quite difficult for us to maneuver with our luggages but I'm glad I got Mr Strong relieving me of this issue heh.

And of course we went back to GLOW Pratunum again. Never stayed anywhere else before but since GLOW fits our budget and preferences, we never see a reason to change or try another hotel. Left our luggages at the concierge and off we went to embark on our Bangkok food trail!

 SABX2 WANTON MEE

First stop has got to be this particular wanton mee stall just beside the street where our hotel is located. We were lucky to beat the crowd so we got our seats fairly quickly.

Pork trotter rice which was super yummy, even the fats melts in our mouth and adds flavour to the entire dish.

Favourite will always be this! Tiny portion but it's better since there will sure be space for other food!

Headed to Platinum Mall just across the street thereafter to do some shopping but nothing catches my eyes that day, so we were just roaming around in a very relaxing pace.

Stopped for coconut drink in their foodcourt cause it was really hot in June and we do not want to fall sick!

Walked around somemore before the boy felt tiny bit sleepy so we rested our legs and had a drink at Blank Canyon Coffee. Oh ain't holidays supposed to be like this? It's quite shiok actually without having a care for the world and where to head to next.

Selfie. Ah skin was so much better then. I want!

Rested our legs till 2pm and headed back hotel to check in to our room, and yay so lucky to get a higher floor this time round :)

The view for the next 4 days!

Just chillaxing around in the soft and comfortable bed. This is the first time we chillaxed for awhile after checking in the hotel. Usually we will be out within half an hour haha.

Ooh checked out my bling bling ribbon earring bought from Platinum Mall! Hehe

BAN KHUN MAE

Lunch venue!

Rustic feel

Lemongrass which was oh so refreshing!

I'm all for the tom yum goong!! Phad thai was equally good as well! Definitely revisiting this again hehe.

Wiped out

After lunch, we walked around Siam area to check out the locations of more eating places and were mostly stuck in the mall doing major bra shopping cause of a random downpour that afternoon!

BAR B Q PLAZA

We finally tried Mookata that night! Mookata is sorta like thai-style steamboat where pork lard is smeared all over the grill for a better flavour I guess!

Here's the boy with the iconic dragon hehe.

We took the 449baht ($18!!) super refill and it was enough to satisfy us :)

It was quite a good meal actually, the boy cooking and me eating hehe.

And we headed back to the hotel for the rest of the night! It was truly a relaxing start to the trip and I remember myself getting used to the pace as well :)
