Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore 2014 #SCMS2014

This year's SCMS falls on 7th December 2014 and it is the first Sunday in Dec! Collected our race pack the day before at Expo!

Collection was such a breeze that we got our packs within 5 minutes! Checked out our race route as well. :)

Morning swollen faces :/

Anyway runners were entitled to a 20% off any merchandise bought during the collection so the both of us got a new pair of running shoes each! Definitely not an impulsive purchase since our shoes were giving ways then. Such a good deal because it was less than $200 each after discount!

My Boston Boost shoes which were so light and bouncy! And i super love the shade of green too :)

And dearie's Adios Boost shoes which are also light as well! Champion runners use this for their races so cannot beat this already! Call us the boost couple yo! Haha!

A pre-race shot with our new shoes!

The following day was race day! Both of us woke up at 5.45am for a quick breakfast before heading down to Esplanade for our race! Taking some pre race shots before warming up! The boy was super love to volunteer to help me apply muscle rub on my thighs and calves that day which was great so I don't have greasy hands hehe.

#ootd that day :)

The boy looking like he is going to conquer the full 42.195km marathon when it's actually just 10km! Haha! But 10km is still considered admirable ok!

What a good weather that day with fluffy white clouds! Thank god there's no thunderstorm as forecasted!

Shoes shot yo! Ready to hit the roads!

This was us when we hit the 5km mark and going strong! Yea half way more to go and it definitely is not as tiresome as I imagined!

Running shot which Dearie took for me heh

Post race shot after loads of hydration and catching our breaths!

 With our hard earned medal!!

Yea first marathon with you checked off the list! :D

Our e-certificates! Was super proud that I can complete the race in 1hr15minutes? Super amazed with myself hehe!

First serious marathon ever! My first 10km with the colleagues at work was sort of like a treasure hunt so we ended up completing 10km after 3 hours and another marathon with Dearie was cancelled due to bad weather conditions so I'm really glad SCMS happened!!

Was humbled by what I can do and am so so glad that I never stop except at water points to hydrate myself! Our pace was also consistent since the beginning. Couldn't be more thankful to the boy for always keeping tabs on me and running alongside me throughout the entire race, constantly encouraging me and being his silly self to motivate and spur me forward.

I couldn't have done this without you and I'm so glad to go for this marathon with you too.

A couple who runs together stays together. Love you loads baby!

More races to come perhaps? :)

The race that did not happened - Adidas King of the Road 2013

Long holidays are over in the blink of an eye!! Why do I feel that it just passes me by without me doing anything T.T!
It's a brand new week yet again! But thank god it's payday to reduce the uper monday blues! :D

**

Anyhow, I never thought I would blog so early about this race but well....

It was yesterday - 11 Aug 2013

We collected our race pack the week before the race and was feeling all excited about it as it is going to be our first marathon together, after so long together! Another first! And we had been doing progressive training almost 2-3 times a week so we would be more equipped to the race and lesser possibility of injuring ourselves.

It was pouring yesterday when we left the house at 5.45am in the morning, but we still head down to the starting point thinking that it is just gonna be a delayed race.

Apparently the rain was still pouring heavily when we reach Esplanade so these were taken while waiting for the rain to subside and updates from the event organiser.

Shortly after, they announced the cancellation of 16.8km category at 7am in the morning. And we were told that we could join the 10km category if we want to. So we thought okay, not too bad since we still get to work our legs! But who knows they cancelled the whole race eventually when the weather did not take a turn for the better after about 30 minutes later Boohoo!! Went on NEA website and realised that there were forecasted thunderstorms islandwide. BEST.

Our spirits were dampened cause it felt like we woke up so early for nothing, and so we went to have breakfast at Delifrance and chilled for a while. We did thought to hit the treadmill but I felt it was all too different and boring doing it and since it was still pouring, we decided to head home!

Despite the race cancellation, we are still gonna receive the medal, but it will be meaningless! So we have decided to prolly head down to Hougang Park Connector someday and do our own 16.8km there! Haha! :D That should at least make the medal more precious despite the change in venue. Hehe.

Now that our first real marathon did not really took place as expected, we are contemplating to go for another one together. And we hope it will materialise soon ;)

Food, and everything else in between

Mother's day this year was a cosy affair spent with 3 wonderful woman in my life.

Dinner was at Paradise Dynasty with Dearie's mum and god dad just a week before Mother's day. We ordered quite abit but we managed to clear them all. Heh.

I thought I found my favourite 杂酱面 on my last visit there but it did not fare as well this time round. The sauce was too diluted and watery :( The seafood La Mian was kinda on the salty side too.

Their speciality! And some Original XLBs!

Kinda regretted ordering these 2 dishes cause it is so zi char-ish and kinda overpriced.

Did up a lovely photo on Mother's Day itself and posted it up on Instagram since I am not spending the day with her. (:

She has been so so nice to me ever since I got together with Dearie about 6 years ago, and it just gets better. (: I am very grateful and blessed that we are able to click so well that people often mistaken us as mother & daughter heh.

Of course, on the actual Mother's day, I am spending time with my grandmother and bringing her out to the temple at Bugis and just walking around in town. She is someone who truly inspires me whenever we talk. To be frank, I have never eaten out together with her because she thinks the pricings at restaurants are ridiculous and would rather cook her own meal at home. She is just so prudent in her own ways and still live the kind of lifestyle like how she does all along, not being influenced by external lavish in life. And I don't know why but my mum too, refuses to eat out so the least I can do is to have dinner with her at home. Hahs.

**

So during Public Service week this year, we went to Subordinate Courts for our Learning Journey! This is the only photo cause photo taking is strictly prohibited inside, but this trip has certainly open up my eyes on the proceedings done in the court and its difference compared to the Supreme Court. Such a waste though that we did not catch any good looking lawyers. Hahs.

**

Ironman date and Bangkok Jam-ed with the colleagues after work on a weekday! Food portion was small and decent, but I would prefer Thai Express anytime. Hahs.

Dessert at Createaf afterwhich! This cost only $9.90 and it taste quite heavenly on a weekday.

**

Itacho for dinner with JJ cause I was craving for some sushi goodness.

Yummeh mango sushi. Heh. Quite ex though. It was lk $5? T.T

Cream croquette which taste nothing like Saboten's!

**

Tonkatsu meal at Ginza Barin! With generous portion of curry and potatoes. Heh.

Brought presents for the birthday girl! A lovely cobalt blue shade of nail polish and a sleek lipstick from Yves Saint Laurent. No photos of that oops! :/

**

Catching up over dinner with super long time friend, Li Juan at Pizza Hut!

Meet the highly advertised cheesy trio! Which was definitely too cheesy for the 2 of us. :/ Cheese overload even though I am a cheese lover, imagine the amount of cheese in there!

All time must order whenever we are at Pizza Hut. Heh.

**

And recently, I finally paid a visit to Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King Four Seasons! They just opened a new outlet at Bugis Village!

A picture of their menu. Pretty snowflakes. **

Peek at the Menu! They have 5 wide choices: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and King!

You can choose to have it with seaweed only, flavoured egg only or all toppings! Level of oil, done-ness of noodle can be adjusted based on personal preferences!

Best of all, free flow beansprouts and boiled eggs!

Awesome. Heh.

Complimentary green tea cola which is refreshing enough!

My summer ramen with all toppings! Super huge portion for me I must say! I have everything in normal level but it is slightly oily and salty so I might opt lesser on that the next time I visit.

Photo with le bestie on our train ride home. 12 years of friendship and counting! Hehe!

When will our travel trip ever materialise!!! BOO! Need to go for one soon before we get married k!

And oh, I did it again.

Registered for the upcoming Adidas King of the Road 2013 Marathon, 16.8km Womens Open category. I wanted to go for 10km but the boy says he wanna do further, so yea I think love makes me lose my logical thinking and so I registered for that distance as well. :/ I hope I can do this!

XOXO,

Off to bed! Tmr is Vesak Day and Im gonna be going to the temple early morning! Have a great long weekend you'll! :D
