Chef At Work; Pink Sauce Pasta with Sliced Chicken & Sausage

Yesterday was another cookout Saturday! Rather impromptu again cause we were too sick of shopping and roaming around in town. So when the boy say "lets cook!" I'm all in. So grocery shopping begins!

Im not chef of the day la as usual Dearie does the most job. Heh. I really got 呼来唤去 by the boy. He really thought he's Chef Ng.. Heh!

Anyway here goes!

Ingredients used: (Serving size: 3-4pax)
- 1/2 pack of pasta
- 1 can of marinara sauce
- 1/2 can of thick cream
- 1 pack of chicken sausages (which I only used 2 sticks and got scolded by the boy lol)
- chicken breast
- grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- salt
- pepper
- sugar

Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 30 mins

Instructions:
1. Cook pasta accordingly to package directions. Drain, reserving 1 cup of pasta water. We cook ours for 6 mins for the pasta to be al dente!
2. Heat butter and oil over medium heat.
3. Add garlic and saute for a minute.
4. Add sliced chicken and sausages and let it cook.
5. Pour in marinara sauce and add salt, pepper, and sugar to taste.
6. Stir and cook over low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
7. Add in thick cream and continue stirring. Thin with pasta water if needed.
8. Add grated parmesan cheese, to taste.
9. Add sauce over pasta and serve.

Pardon the lack of behind the scene photos cause our hands were too busy by then! Trying to cook and wash at the same time!

So here's the end product! Majorly pleased with ourselves hehe! :D

My share with more sauce plse!! Yum yum!!

Our main intention was to create pink sauce pasta, with a combination of cream & tomato sauce. But I guess we did not really achieve it cause we put too little cream (fat content very high you see!). So it still taste somewhat like tomato sauce? But at least it's abit creamy and less icky! Not a fan of tomato based pasta hehe.

Nonetheless! Cookout session success! Next time 再接再厉!

1. Slice all the ingredients.
2. Begin with preheating tom yum paste, lemongrass and ginger at a small stockpot on low heat.
3. Add chicken breast and squid into stockpot. Stir and cook until near done.
4. When the squid is near done, add oyster mushroom, crabmeat and prawns. Bring to boil on medium heat.
5. Add lime juice, green chilli, cilantro and serve. :)

Let's get started!! Some behind the scene photos!

认真的男人 *.*

As you can see, he handles all the big items, the chicken, prawns and squid. Heh.

And I only cut up the oyster mushrooms and crabmeat. HAHA.

Tada!! End product!! Super nice and it is not too spicy as well. But definitely can be spicier next time wahaha! And lunch was so fulfilling and rewarding!!

Thinking of the next cookout session already! Maybe some pasta? Slurps! :D

Chef At Work; Kimchi Jjiggae

On a Sunday morning, Dearie accompanied me to go to the salon for our hair fix before CNY!

Thank you for being so patient sitting there and waiting for me while I get my hair done despite u getting your hair done in like less than an hour?

Photos with our new look! Yay messy hair no more! Did steam rebonding! I know it doesnt look very straight here but that's what I like about it. Heh. I just need neater tresses. Hehe.

So we went grocery shopping after our haircut! To get the ingredients to make dinner that night! Yes I know right. Together for 5 years plus and this is our first time cooking together and making dinner for his family. HAHA. Kena suan-ed.

Anyway its our first attempt at making Kimchi Jjiggae! I am a fan of korean food if you know me! Hehe!

So here's the recipe that I got off the net! Plus a little tweaking here and there.

Preparation time: 15 mins
Cooking time: 15 mins

Obviously we took longer than that. Like 45 minutes? LOL.

Ingredients used (Serving size - 6 pax) :
- 1 cup of Kimchi (aged) - medium sized tub for $10 at Taka foodhall
- 1/2 cup of Kimchi juice
- 2 cups of water
- 1 pack of Pork
- 1 tub of luncheon meat
- 1 pack of baby Kailan
- 2 packs of Enoki mushroom
- 2 tabs of tofu sliced
- 1/2 onion sliced
- 2 stalks of spring onions thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon of sesame oil

Instructions:
1. Slice all the ingredients.
2. Begin with preheating sesame oil at a small stockpot on low heat.
3. Add pork and kimchi into stockpot. Stir and cook until pork is near done.
4. When the pork is nearly cooked, add water and kimchi juice. Bring to boil on medium heat.
5. Add onion, minced garlic, spring onion, luncheon meat, baby kailan, enoki mushroom and tofu. Cook it for 10-15 minutes.
6. Serve.

There you have it! It's actually quite simple! It's like cooking steamboat. Just dump everything in. LOL.

So this is our dinner! And wow, cooking is definitely not easy! Both of us were sweating like mad at the end of everything. But it's really not bad for a start! Me helping out and him doing most of the cooking actually. But I would say our teamwork is there which makes it alot easier. ;)

So yummy! I quickly made some springy maggie mee and that is our dinner that night!

Everybody was gobbling up the food and the pot was empty within an hour! Shiok to the max with so many ingredients inside! Left all of us so so bloated but sooooo satisfied. Hehe.

Another first that we created. ;)

To more cooking ahead! :D
