Ng's Home - First look!

28 Jan 2018

It was move in day for us!

Prior to moving in, we did 2 rounds of major cleaning even after chemical wash to ensure that the house is really spick and span, and we sweat buckets. It was a good workout nonetheless haha.

Photos before we started sweating buckets haha ( I really love the mint wall!!!)
So I need to have it by the dining table too haha
On move in day, we set up the internet wifi, went shopping for daily household items and essentials and went about slowly unpacking.

Pardon uneven and bad lighting haha

One item I had absolutely no regrets getting was the Mi Robot! It is smart to map the entire house area systematically to ensure that no area will be left untouched. I simply put it to run before I left house for work in the morning and I always go back to a clean house! The suction power is awesome too. The husband hates it cause he thinks its slow, but I'm willing to pay for its convenience without lifting a finger myself haha.
We did some light cooking on move in day to start the hob and rice cooker! That is to symbolise abundance of food which is very important to me haha
Just some rice and scrambled eggs cause we did not have any other ingredients and condiments that time lol
We also did our first load of laundry a few days later lol

Our renovation took 2 months and we were so thankful to our beloved friend for rushing it for us to meet the auspicious move in date despite caring for a newborn baby full time. She also threw in loads of good stuff for us such as concealing all our aircon trunking and installing our door bell for free. Now, we are back to saving up our joint account once again. It went down so much for the house but we are truly happy and proud that we did it all on our own, with no financial help at all! :D

It's been 2 months since we moved in and our house is looking more like a home now. Will definitely make sure I post an updated look soon!

Ng's Home Reno #3 - Carpentry installed and others

11 Jan 2018

Our carpentry was fabricated and installed! Here’s our kitchen cabinets in full view

Our full length shoe cabinets are also being fabricated
Finally my own wardrobe!
A single display shelves to display all our various knick knacks!
The following day, we went up and all our carpentry were installed!

Marble laminates up!
Doors up! Dearie insisted having the laminates on and I'm slowly getting used to it haha
Our cabinets slowly taking shape now!
The hob area with cabinets and drawers
Left area for fridge and the mini recess for our oven, which we decided against doing a built in.

My wardrobe interior all done up! Rods to hang up all my dresses, and shelves to store my tops, jeans, midi skirts etc! Top for bedsheets, quilt covers and mattress protectors!
Right of the wardrobe will store all my sports gears, towels, undergarments etc!

Cabinets in master toilet! Open shelvings for easy access to my cleansers and removers. additional storage behind the mirror to store toilet papers, dental floss and mouthwash!

We also installed wardrobes in bedroom 2 and it will serve as a guestroom for now hehe
Our pretty beige bedroom door were also installed. The colours satisfied our criteria of a bright, clean and airy house!
We wanted to have the same doors for all rooms but unfortunately we couldn't have it for the common bathroom as the shower area kerb is getting in the way. So we decided to install a slide and swing door. The outcome wasn't so bad after all! It might be a pain to clean it though...
We contemplated very long between stylish grey and urban grey for a side of our bedroom and eventually settled on urban grey! We kinda like it as it is not too strong for a bedroom! It even has a slight tinge of lavender hue which I love hehe
We also decided on this shade of sand for day curtains in our living area. The end result was not really what I expected as it seems to be more yellowish than brownish.. We shall live with it in the meantime...
Dark grey curtains for all bedrooms!

Ng's Home Reno #2 - Tiles laid!

While we were waiting for the tiles to be laid, we went shopping for all the big items like washing machine, fridge and tv as well as the various accessories for the kitchen and bathrooms! We also settled all our furnitures at Star Living! Totally loving all their designs and reasonable prices!

5 Jan 2018

Tiles were laid by then! It took approx 3 weeks and close to a month. We were worried that reno will not be going as planned but thankfully it did! Really loving the layout of the tiles too. Can you spot the constellations?
It's not really obvious that we chose different tiles as the bedrooms' ones are slightly darker hehe.
Love that the tiles look different under different lightings/times of the day. Loving it already!
One of the bedrooms even had the skirting done up already
Common toilet tiles overlaid and kerb done too! We really marvel at the workers' efficiency!
Master toilet done up as well! Our hdb toilet bowls were long gone too haha.
We chose to overlaid the toilet floor tiles to prevent grout lines but we had no more budget for wall tiles so yep, more vinegar and water spray then lol.
Base done up for washing machine too! Super impressed with the excellent workmanship!
SO NICE
We like that the tiles are not uniform so each tile and grain is different. This is what makes wood tiles so uniquely chio!
The hacked portions were all tidied up nicely and cabinet bases were done too! Even the citygas pipes were running already woohoo!
Our stove will be here!

Absolutely enjoy penning down this renovation process of our house!
