Yay managed to dig some time out to sort through the photos and post the first entry today!
Finally the day has come for us to go to Australia! It still feels quite surreal that we had spent 11 awesome days there but I know all this is real haha.
We bought SQ tickets half a year in advance at $700 return during one of their promotions. Damn worth it haha.
We were early for our midnight flight so we grabbed some snacks and just chill around in the airport. I can still recall our bouncing excitement that it's finally happening haha.
Flight OOTD heh.
It was a 7.5hrs flight and we reached Tullamarine Airport at 7am Sg time, 9am Aussie time! Love views like this, fluffy clouds like marshmallows!
So after getting our sim card from Telstra (their local mobile subscriber), we headed to Hertz to collect our rented car. It was super eventful man, we had to reject 2 cars as their GPS navigation port wasn't working and thank god everything is okay for the 3rd car. It's no joke hauling our luggage up and down, getting settled in a car before realising something is not working and gathering all our stuffs to the next better car.
Anyway we finally get set on the road to Geelong, which is the start of our Great Ocean Road trip!
Anyway we finally get set on the road to Geelong, which is the start of our Great Ocean Road trip!
Many hugs and kisses to the boy for ferrying us around throughout the first four days of the trip! Clap clap hehe.
Roads are so wide and empty of cars, great for speeding at 100km/hr haha.
Finally reach Geelong after approx an hr's drive
We got the first taste of expensive parking fees in Australia. $2.60 for an hour!! And it's just by the road. We won't complain about Sg's parking fees ever again.
One of their malls
Lunch was at Freckleduck
Love their exquisite teapot!
Cant get used to their benedict with no hollandaise sauce haha.
Their cafe recommendation which was good! Frittata with sliced salmon, topped with rocket salad
OOTD! Super in love with my grey coat! Been waiting for ages to wear it! Haha. Really digging dearie with his leather jacket look too :)
After filling our bellies, we continued our drive down to Bells Beach.
It's truly a surfers paradise! We saw so many surfers riding the waves when we were there.
It feels really calming and therapeutic just admiring the scenic view, listening to the crashing waves and watching the surfers doing their thing.
Then we did a quick stop by the Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch.
It is a tribute to the WWI servicemen who built the Great Ocean Road.
We took some timer shots along the way at super random spots!
This was when we realise the boy set for 6 burst shots lol.
Hilariously happy x1
At another random spot
Hilariously happy x2
Pondering about life lol
This was me asking "hao le ma?" Haha.
As the skies were getting darker, we find ourselves winding through these roads to reach our overnight stay which was located at Apollo Bay, an approx 3hrs non-stop drive away. My heart was seriously at my mouth when we were so close to the ocean but it is indeed a beautiful sight to behold after putting aside the initial anxiety, and trusting Dearie's driving skills haha.
Reached Apollo Bay safely just before the skies turn dark!
Checked into our inn and headed to this random foodcourt which was the only one operating at that hour haha.
Had some local seafood platter and pizza for dinner. Food was decent enough to fill us!
Then back to our stay for the rest of the night! Shops close rather early in Australia, around 5-6.30pm so we find ourselves back to our rooms way earlier than usual for this trip, which was good I guess? Haha.
Totally no regrets staying with Apollo Bay Waterfront Motor Inn! Love the woody and blue hues deco.
And that sums up our first day in the Land Down Under and it just keeps getting better and better!
