Happy May Day all! It's supposed to be a well rested and fun filled day but I'm stuck at home nursing a terrible sore throat and flu. :'( So I spent time catching up on dramas and using up boxes of tissues. :/
Anyway, on to Day 3 of my trip to Beijing!
Started off our day having breakfast at this popular eatery.
Here we are!
Morning faces
Porridge, xlb and 生煎包!
After breakfast, we bought some breads too!
And we went to Summer Palace! Known as 颐和园. Quoting dearie, this is the place where the emperors visited during Summer, to avoid summer heat. The Summer Palace is mainly dominated by Longevity Hill and the Kunming Lake.
Self shot while waiting for the boy to get tickets! My lips were in pretty bad shape and it keep peeling and cracking due to the dry and cold air there. :( Had to use Dearie's lip balm to constantly keep it moisturized.
The one at the background is the summer palace!
Beats me why we look so pale here.
The boyfriend carrying my bag cause my shoulder is breaking. :) Looks like some ninja warrior here. Heh.
Then, we head to 前门大街 to tour around.
More churros yay!
Spot S.H.E's endorsement!
European style of shop front they have! We grabbed some souveniors for the family too.
More eating! To reminisce our time in Taiwan.
Decent enough, but it definitely loses in comparison to those that we had in Taiwan!
Shaved ice! with the cute cushion!
Here we are at 天安门!
This is the Forbidden City, 故宫. It was closed when we were there so we did not go in and tour.
Saw a march past! There seems to be some events going on but we did not bother to find out what. :/
And Dearie bought me to 海底捞 for dinner, this is the place where he raves non stop about the service. I think they are in Sg too! At Jurong Point i guess.
Ordering food through ipad!
We chose chicken broth and tomatoes as our soup base!
They provide aprons as well! So thoughtful! Forced the boy to take a photo of him wearing this, hence the reluctant expression. Heh.
开动咯!
Yum yum! The soup is really yummy! I especially love the tomato one! Keep drinking it non stop. Too tasty and flavorful!
Fried mantou with condensed milk, my first try and it is not too bad! Just a dip into the milk, not too much of course!
The service is really top notch I must say! First, they provided hot towels once you are seated, and they continue to replace used towels with new towels every now and then through out the dinner, offered me ziplock bag for my phone to avoid spills, and give me a basic hair tie cause my hair was let down. How thoughtful!
Each waiter is in charge of 2-3 tables so they will constantly come around and attend to the steamboat, be it mixing or clearing the residue lying on top. And guess what, it costs us about $17 odd per pax! This is definitely very cheap and reasonable considering the ambience and the kind of service they provide. Thumbs up!

Mandatory shot with the mrt signages. Heh.
Thank you baby, for bringing me to such a wonderful place for dinner. :)
