Seoul, Korea Day 4 Part II // Bukchon Hanok Village (북촌한옥마을), Hanbok Trying, Red Sun Restaurant //

After our lunch at Tosokchon, we roamed around Bukchon Hanok Village to check out the traditional houses - Hanok. There are a total of 8 photo spots in the Hanok Village which supposedly captures really pretty scenes of parts of the village. But sadly, we couldn't find any. It might be because of the snow that covered the pavements, alleys which made it impossible to look out for the photo spots. So we ended up just anyhowly taking photos of the place haha.

Some of these hanoks are still houses to many koreans, but some have transformed to cultural centres, guesthouses for tourists/visitors to bask in the korean culture in the village.

I wonder how it will be like living in one of such houses.

After so much walking, our legs were starting to give way so we decided to skip exploring Samcheon-dong which is a hippy area with lots of quirky and interesting cafes. So we decided to head to Seoul Global Cultural Center to try hanboks for free!

We reserved a slot on the spot which gave us approx 1.5hrs of free time but because we were too tired from all the walking, we just chill around in the waiting area and suddenly our slot were brought forward so we actually only waited approx 30 mins! Chose our costumes and we were off to take our mini photoshoot!

Camera died at this point so we only managed to take one group shot. Thank god all of us look quite decent? Hehe.

Wefies again!

We actually took alot more photos but somehow they are not in my phone. Shall update here again when I get them hehe! That's my 书生 and I. Hehe.

To Myeongdong again after trying on hanboks! Bought some street food this time!

This egg toast super yummy? And it was served hot with an entire egg yolk in it!

Hotteok - korean pancake! Only available in winter!

Strawberries drizzled with chocolate sauce!! So sweet and so damn good we got a cup each time we are in Myeongdong. Sometimes even 2 cups haha!

Dinner at Red Sun Restaurant thereafter! Red Sun is in our itinerary of must try restaurants all along but we thought we couldn't find it. Who knows we would chance upon it while doing some shopping in Myeongdong? That's fate calling upon us to try this restaurant out so we did yea! No regrets!

Sneak peek at the menu. Their specialty is Toppokki - korean ricecake and they have several options such as Jajang Topokki, Assorted Ham & Sausage Toppokki and Seafood Toppokki. These set meals comes with the Toppokki, and either fried rice or ice cream! We ordered the Seafood Toppokki for 3 person, slightly spicy and we totally enjoyed the meal!!

Cooking in progress

Almost done

And all ready to tuck in! It was such a hearty meal with squid, dumplings, mussels, prawns, toppokki, instant noodles, cellophane noodles. The sauce is really good too!! I am missing this dish so much already!

Usually after finishing this, we can choose either fried rice where they fry the rice with the leftover sauce, and result in something like claypot rice. But we chose for the ice cream instead as all of us were so full from this already!

And that's how we end Day 4! With a bloated tummy hehe! More entries to come woohoo! Felt so happy documenting and reminiscing everything down hehe.
