Jeju, Korea Day 2 Part I // Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak (성산일출봉), Jeongbang Waterfall (정방폭포), Cheonjiyeon Waterfall (천지연 폭포), Teddy Bear Museum (테디베어뮤지엄) //

Continuing my Korea travelogue!

We woke up really early on our 2nd day in Jeju! Since Korea is 1hr ahead of Sg, we find ourselves waking up earlier as the daytime hours are shorter due to winter. It took quite awhile for us to get used to waking up earlier than usual.

After seeking breakfast options from the hotel host, we went to a small eatery just nearby our hotel for breakfast!

Thankfully there were chinese menu available!

Morning swollen faces at 9am :<

There were heaters in almost all the restaurants so we are able to take off our bulky down jackets to enjoy our meal!

Here's what we had for breakfast! Lots of side dishes to go along with our mains.

Sea urchin seaweed soup which was bubbling and sooo shiok to drink in the cold weather!

Abalone porridge which was yummy and warm for the tummy! The serving was really huge and it cost approx $18. Seriously food is not cheap in Jeju, especially seafood.

After breakfast, we walked back to the hotel to take a few shots before we set off down the road!

Dearie taking a shot with our rented car! Kudos to him for driving us around during our 3d2n stay in Jeju! It was a really good experience to self drive around Jeju instead of hiring a driver cause its all about achivement and accomplishment yo. We have the freedom to manage our time as well. :)

And we started our journey from Jeju City to Seogwipo City where all the major attractions are located! It's an hour's drive but time passes really fast somehow!

Sitting at the front seat talking to Dearie and keeping him entertained in case he gets too sleepy and doze off.

Woo the feeling is so shiok feels like we are part of the country!

Before we know it, we have reached our first attraction!

Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak

Beginning our hike up the peak!

(Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak rose from under the sea in a volcanic eruption over 100,000 years ago. Located on the eastern end of Jeju-do island, there is a huge crater at the top of the peak. The crater is about 600m in diameter and 90m high. With the 99 sharp rocks surrounding the crater, it looks like a gigantic crown. While the southeast and north sides are cliffs, the northwest side is a verdant grassy hill that is connected to the Seongsan Village. Source: KTO Website)

You can see how strong the wind is just by looking at the boy's hair haha

In the crater :)

After spending close to 2hrs at the peak, we continued our journey to catch the natural waterfall! I super love waterfalls!

Jeongbang Waterfall

(Jeongbang Falls is the only waterfall in Asia that falls directly into the ocean. On the wall of the waterfall, there is an inscription written "Seobulgwacha", referring to Seobul passing by this place. Seobul was a servant of the Chinese Emperor Jin (BC 259~210) who was ordered by the Emperor to find the substance that would make him immortal. Seogwipo is also said to have gotten its name to mean Seobul headed back west. Jeongbang Waterfall is situated by a high cliff by the sea, and an old evergreen stands there learning back as if it would fall into the ocean. Source: KTO Website)

We took lots of shots with the waterfall!

What a magnificent view just standing there admiring this and taking it all in.

Shortly after, we headed to another waterfall which is just a 10 minutes drive away!

Taking photos with Dol Hareubangs
(These are large statues found on Jeju Island off the southern tip of South Korea. They are considered to be gods offering both protection and fertility and were placed outside of gates for protection against demons travelling between realities. Source: Wiki)

Caught a whiff of autumn while on our way to the waterfall and I was extremely elated and jumping for joy literally!!! It was so unexpected as it's the winter season but I'm so glad to witness this! It is such a bonus! I'm a happy girl!

Oh so beautiful~

Brought them home :)

Took a walking shot of this mother-daughter and I feel it was so well taken cause look at their smiles! :D

The dragons taking a photo with the dragons :)

Here we are!

Cheonjiyeon Waterfall

(Cheonjiyeon, meaning "God's pond", derives its name from the legend that the seven fairies serving the King of Heaven came down to the pond on stairs of cloud and bathed in its clean waters. Apart from the wild Dampalsu trees, designated as natural monument No. 163, the wooded area also contains a great variety of rare plants such as brambles, Songyeopnan as well as Gusilijappam trees, Sanyuja trees (Chinese lemon trees), and camellias which are all specified as natural monument No. 379. The waterfall is 22m high, 12m wide and 20m in depth. The clear and deep water of Cheonjiyeon Falls is designed as natural monument No. 27 and is renowed as a habitat for Mutae eels (natural monument No. 258. The annual Seven Fairies Festival is held every May. Source: KTO Website)

After another 30 minutes drive, we reached Teddy Bear Museum! It was only 6.30pm but it feels like 9pm in Singapore!

Just some of the displays which I love :)

Mona Lisa Bear? Hehe

They showcased the evolution of the famous Winnie the Pooh Bear as well!

Sadly the most expensive bear in the world is not displayed!

Traditional Korean Wedding Bears

Bears everywhere!

And we headed off to dinner thereafter! Will be blogging about it in Part II cause I figured this entry is long enough!!
