Bangkok Day 1 // Platinum Mall, Asiatique //

Ohai!

It's 2 more days to Christmas! Oh technically, it's actually Christmas Eve now! Happy 平安夜 people! Hehe! It's gonna be half day today woots!

Just came back from a Xmas gathering with the colleagues and it's so so fun! Love their company as always. Hehe.

Before I sidetracked, I shall blog about my Bangkok trip before I forgot! Here goes!

We booked tickets with Jetstar at $225/pax which is relatively okay but definitely can be cheaper during better days I guess.

Well, we were actually supposed to take the 7am flight out of Sg that Wednesday morning, but we were shocked to find our flight timing being changed to 11.20am when we were doing our online check in the night before. Called up Jetstar and they confirmed that the 7am flight is indeed cancelled. The thing is, we wasn't informed in anyway. So okay, feeling bummed, we went for that timing since it's the next earliest. Our trip got shortened too! Our scheduled return timing was supposed to be 9pm Bangkok time but we got forced to take the 2.30pm Bangkok time back as the 9pm flight got cancelled too apparently! Angry to the maximum already! Cos our 4d3n trip turns out to be like 3 days only lor.

Anyway we tried not to let these affect our mood so we brushed it off rather quickly and excitedly went to the airport the next day. Here's us waiting for boarding!

Took some photos with the Christmasy decorations in the airport!

At the waiting area! Sunshine on our faces

And we were up! The flight was approx 2hr 30mins. Love being 10,000 feet off the ground hehe.

Reached Bangkok airport in no time! Here's a really blurry photo of us cause we were practically brisk walking! The airport is humongous and it really need some walking to get to the immigration!

It was 1pm odd when we arrived! Since bangkok is an hour behind Sg, we felt like our day was pretty long for that few days since we sorta had an additional hour. Heh.

And we got stuck in immigration for 2.5hrs! It's like they planned for all airlines to reach Bangkok airport at that timing! The immigration server was down and it was horrible! The long snaking and unstructured queues totally ruin our mood, considering we already wasted half a day, with a hungry stomach somemore! And we nearly cannot find our luggages cause it took so long for us to clear immigrations and our luggages were being put off the belt. Thank god we were able to retrieve them in the end.

Rushed to get our data plan and off we went to take the Airport Rail to the city!

Cute tokens!

Spacious and clean! Quite similar to the one we took in HK!

Reached the city in about 20 mins and we bought the BTS ticket to bring us to Ratchathewi station, which is the nearest station to our hotel! It was already 5+pm by then!

Reached our hotel! Opposite Platinum Mall so it's damn shiok for me hehe.

Welcome drink while they sort out the admin. We totally need this man. Considering we rush ourselves from place to place.

The annoyed and half tired boy. We walked to the hotel instead of taking a cab cause we are trying to avoid jams, so he got to carry our luggages and climb the overhead bridge at one point. Love him max! What will I do without him?? Thank you Dear! :*

Love the pink key cards! Hehe! Dumped the luggages in the room, washed up and off we go exploring the area!

Clean and neat room since the hotel was rather new :) This cosy hotel cost us $300 for a 4 days stay! :)

The boy surfing for his National Geographic Channel while I go snapping around. He always surf National Geographic whenever we are overseas!

Me being me. Toilet also must take. LOL.

Bought the rabbit card to bring us around! It's like our ezlink. We got the one with the 15 trips package so we can use it throughout the 4 days! And we found out that we got scammed on our last day while refunding the card because we realised the deposit was actually 50 baht each but we were charged 200 baht for each card on our first day! Super angry at ourselves for not being alert enough! Hmphf! And there is no receipt so the staff couldn't help us with it! Blame on our luck man!

Headed to Platinum Mall to fill our tummy! They work by card basis and balance can be refunded.

This is damn nice! Recommended by Dearie's friend whom we bumped into at Platinum Mall Foodcourt too. And guess what, they took the 7am flight that morning! Raised our blood pressure even higher! What an exciting start to our trip man!! Grr! And we told ourselves never to take Jetstar again! Sucky communication.

Digging in

Walked around and I already got 3 new bags. LOL. 2nd round of dinner at Fuji Japanese Restaurant which was damn cheap for good quality food!

Yummy garlic rice!

And we shared the main. Hehe. Cost us about $10 for the meal? Too cheap!!

Platinum Mall when night falls

After dinner, we took the train to Saphan Taksin station to switch to shuttle boat cause we are going to Asiatique! People queuing orderly at the train station.

Queuing for the free shuttle boat! But because the queue was so long, we went for the express Shuttle boat that came earlier instead. And we only paid less than a dollar! Definitely worth it if you want to save some time.

Here we are after a 10 mins ride.

I did not bully him to take all my bags k. We took turns. Heh. (Disclaimer)

Took photos of the well known flyer! We did not have a go at it though.

Ended the day at 12am Bkk time and bought this huge bottle of Yakult that cost 80c! Cheap until!

And awesome Phad Thai for supper which we got 2 streets down our hotel at $2.50!

Okay that's all for Day 1!

Yay! Managed to put this up within an hour yes! Gonna head to bed now! I hope I can finish this travelogue before 2013 comes to an end! :D
